Specification
Ammonium chloride tech grade is colorless crystalline or white crystalline powder; it is odorless, salty and cool; it has moisture absorption. It is soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. It is a strong electrolyte, soluble in water, ionizing ammonium ion and chloride ion. When ammonia and chlorination are combined to form ammonium chloride, there will be white smoke. No smell. The taste is salty, cool and slightly bitter. Hygroscopicity is small, but it can also absorb moisture and agglomerate in wet and rainy weather.
Application
Application Fields
1. Used as electrolyte in zinc-carbon batteries.
2. Metalwork: used as a flux in preparing metals to be tin coated, galvanized or soldered.
3. Other applications: Used to work on oil wells with clay swelling problems. Other uses include in hair shampoo, in the glue that bonds plywood, and in cleaning products. In hair shampoo, it is used as a thickening agent in ammonium-based surfactant systems, such as ammonium lauryl sulfate.
4. Ammonium chloride used in the textile and leather industry in dyeing, tanning, textile printing and to luster cotton.

FAQ
FAQ Graphic
Q1: What is Ammonium Chloride technical grade primarily used for?
Ammonium Chloride technical grade is widely used as an electrolyte in dry cell batteries, as a flux agent in metalwork (galvanizing, tinning, and soldering), in dye manufacturing, and in the textile and leather printing processes.
Q2: How does Ammonium Chloride behave in water?
It is highly soluble in water and acts as a strong electrolyte, completely ionizing into ammonium and chloride ions. This property makes it highly efficient for electrochemistry and chemical manufacturing.
Q3: Is technical grade Ammonium Chloride hygroscopic?
Yes, it has slight moisture absorption characteristics. In wet, humid, or rainy environments, it may absorb water vapor from the air, which can cause the powder to agglomerate (cake) over time.
Q4: Why is Ammonium Chloride used in shampoos and cleaning products?
In the cosmetics and cleaning industry, Ammonium Chloride is utilized as a thickening agent, particularly in surfactant formulations containing ammonium lauryl sulfate.
Q5: How should this chemical product be stored and handled?
It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct moisture, heat, and incompatible substances. Keeping packaging sealed prevents moisture absorption and maintains flowability.
